Within the context of the new strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, orientated towards the accomplishment of the Millennium Development Goals, Hellenic Aid promotes:

	Humanitarian and food aid programmes
	development programmes, materialized by N.G.O.’s, directed towards the economic and social amelioration of the populations of developing countries
	volunteerism and the establishment of new development N.G.O.’s
	co-operation among national N.G.O.’s and respective organizations taking action in developing countries

In order to accomplish the new strategy directions and to improve co-ordination in matters of development co-operation and the effectiveness of assistance, Hellenic Aid focuses on actions and programmes related to crucial development sectors as well as in specific priority countries.
